Six families of industrial adsorbent media, manufactured to ISO 9001:2015 and supported across specification, supply, and lifecycle.

Portfolio · Adsorbent Media

Six families. Six engineering disciplines. One technical authority.

The SorbiTech adsorbent media portfolio comprises six families manufactured to ISO 9001:2015. Each grade is a defined product: documented chemistry, controlled particle distribution, measured surface properties, and a certificate of analysis released against every shipment lot.

What distinguishes this portfolio is the integration between media and equipment. The engineering team that sizes a molecular sieve dryer specifies the same grades listed here. The team that commissions a turnkey water treatment plant orders the activated carbon charge from the same qualified supply chain. One technical authority covers the grade selection and the system design.

The portfolio is curated, not encyclopaedic. Grades that fail qualification criteria are removed. Grades redundant with another in the range are consolidated. The six families below are the grades SorbiTech engineering specifies into operating plants and supports through technical data sheets and lifecycle service contracts.

Activated Alumina

Compressed air dryers · Fluoride removal · Hydrogen peroxide stabilisation

Activated alumina is the high crush strength aluminium oxide adsorbent specified for compressed air drying to ISO 8573 Class 2, hydrogen fluoride removal in petrochemical streams, and defluoridation of drinking water to the WHO guideline of 1.5 mg/l. The standard grade is supplied as 3 to 6 mm balls with surface area between 320 and 360 m²/g.

Activated Carbon

Drinking water · Refinery effluent · Solvent recovery · Odour control

Activated carbon is the surface chemistry adsorbent for dissolved organics, taste and odour compounds, free chlorine, and trace gaseous contaminants. The portfolio covers coal based, coconut shell, and lignite grades in granular, pellet, and powder forms, with iodine numbers between 800 and 1200 mg/g. Thermal reactivation restores spent carbon to 85 to 95 percent of virgin activity.

Carbon Molecular Sieve

On site nitrogen generation · PSA enrichment · Inert blanketing

Carbon molecular sieve is the kinetic adsorbent for on site nitrogen generation from compressed air, oxygen enrichment for medical and metallurgical service, and hydrogen recovery from refinery off gas. The pore opening is tuned at the carbon synthesis stage to admit smaller kinetic molecules and reject larger ones, driving the pressure swing cycle at 6 to 8 bar.

Molecular Sieves

Gas drying · Cryogenic ASU · LNG pre treatment · Sweetening

Molecular sieve is the size selective adsorbent for cryogenic air pre purification, natural gas dehydration to pipeline dew point, ethanol dehydration above the azeotrope, and combined water and sulphur removal in gas treating. The synthetic crystalline aluminosilicate is supplied across the 3A, 4A, 5A, and 13X grades, with the effective pore opening selected to admit the target molecule and exclude the rest.

Silica Gel

Compressed air drying · Transformer breathers · Packaging desiccant

Silica gel is the amorphous silicon dioxide desiccant used for compressed instrument air drying, transformer breather service, refrigerated air dryers, and pharmaceutical packaging. The grades cover white, blue indicating, and orange indicating, supplied in bead and granular forms with regeneration between 120 and 180 °C and equilibrium water capacity above 35 percent by weight at 20 °C and 60 percent relative humidity.

Support Media & Bed Accessories

Catalyst bed support · Flow distribution · Reactor grading

Support media is the family of inert ceramic balls, high purity alumina balls, and rubberised compression pads used to distribute flow across the vessel diameter, support the active bed, and hold the charge in place under pressure swing and temperature swing cycling. The supply covers graded sets from 6 to 25 mm, sized to the underdrain spacing of the vessel.

Manufacturing & Quality

Documented Lots, End to End Traceability

All grades in the SorbiTech portfolio are manufactured to ISO 9001:2015 with full lot traceability from raw material through finished product. Manufacturing follows fixed recipes with in-line quality control: every lot is sampled at the end of production for iodine number, water capacity, crush strength, attrition loss, and bulk density.

Where the duty is sensitive, including drinking water polishing, pharmaceutical purification, and gold recovery, additional verification by third party laboratories such as SGS or Intertek is arranged on request. NSF/ANSI 61 eligibility is held on the standard activated carbon grades supplied for potable water.

Engineering Methodology

Grade selection at SorbiTech is a four-step engineering exercise. The recommendation returned to the buyer covers grade, quantity, packaging, and lead time, with the engineering basis documented.

1

Process Audit

Inlet composition, target outlet specification, flow, pressure, temperature, operating window, regeneration constraints.

2

Mechanism Match

Size selectivity, surface chemistry, ion exchange, or impregnation. The contaminant determines the adsorbent class.

3

Family Selection

Candidate families narrow to one or two. Operating conditions distinguish between the available grades.

4

Bed Sizing

Equilibrium capacity, mass transfer zone, cycle time, pressure drop. The bed sizing closes out grade and quantity.
